Ray has lived on the Island since the late 1990s, and during this time has got to know a great many people, worked with many organisations and gained much local knowledge. He holds qualifications in conservation management and environmental auditing and protection. Ray is the founder of the Island based Footprint Trust charity, which is the lead organisation fighting fuel poverty. He is a trustee director of IW Community Action at the Riverside Centre. Currently employed by a national fuel poverty charity. He has renovated his Georgian home, taking into account its heritage whilst making it energy efficient. Ray is an honorary master of the Open University, in recognition of his work in fighting fuel poverty through educational projects.
